NARAIL: Police held six leader-activists of district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir including two assistant secretaries from a local mosque in Sadar Upazila of the district Tuesday night.

The detainees are assistant secretaries of district unit of Jamaat Ayub Hossain Khan, 47, Alamgir Hussen, 40, Sadar thana Jammat secretary Musfiqur Rahman, 50, Jamaat leader Anamul Kabir, Shahbad Union unit Chhatra Shibir president Hasan Ali, 18, and activist Tasnim Hossain, 18.

Sadar police station officer-in-charge Rafiqul Islam told banglanews that the Jamaat men were held while they were holding a clandestine meeting at the mosque.

Alamgir Hossain was fugitive accused in a police assault case on November 5, 2012. Ayub was released on bail as per the High Court order in the same case.
