BNP in self-contradiction over RCC polls: Quader

DHAKA: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP leaders are expressing ‘self-contradiction’ by giving opposing remarks on the Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) polls.

Quader, also the Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up with the remark while talking to reporters at a grieving ceremony of recently demised DNCC mayor Annisul Huq.

Noakhai District Samity organized the program at Diploma Engineers Institute in Dhaka on Friday (Dec 22).

He said, “Two top leaders of BNP, secretary general Fakhrul Islam and joint- secretary general Rizvi, are saying two different things about RCC polls. There are rumors floating around that one of them is supporter of Tarique and the other one is for Khaleda. Is there any difference of assessment between the two? If not then how come one party is saying two things at a time?”

Mentioning of self-contradiction in BNP, Quader said, “We all know what BNP really means to say- the election is only fair if they win, if they lose then its not fair at all-that is their main point. No one was able to say that the RCC polls, like the previous NCC polls, is not fair.”
