Students of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) conducted a winter clothes distribution program in several districts of Kurigram and Dinajpur districts on January 3.
The initiative was organized by The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award at IUB (DEA IUB), with support from the Division of Student Activities (DoSA).
During the program, 700 blankets and shawls were distributed in Newashi and Shontoshpur Unions under Nageshwari Upazila in Kurigram and Kashipur Union of Fulbari Upazila in Dinajpur. This distribution was supported by the Mutual Trust Bank Foundation.
An additional 400 blankets and shawls were distributed in the Nageswari Pourosova Area in Kurigram with contributions from Didar A Husain, Chairman, Board of Trustees, IUB, and Mr. A Matin Chowdhury, Member of the Board of Trustees.
The distribution efforts in Kurigram were supported by “Supothe Torun,” a local humanitarian organization.
Several local government officials and community members assisted in the program, including Md. Shahe Alaam, Chief Advisor of “Supothe Torun”; Md. Al Amin, Professor at Nageswari Degree College; Md. Mijanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of the Nageswari Police Station; Md. Younus Ali, Headmaster of Gagla Girls’ School; Md. Manu Parvez, a social worker; and Md. Abdul Aziz, Managing Director of Nageswari Apollo Hospital.
Mr. Ashraful Amin, Director, Council Affairs, and Mr. Saiful Kabir, Senior Officer, Govt. Relations, IUB coordinated the distribution efforts.
