Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch briefed representatives of Islamabad-based diplomatic missions on the latest developments in relations with India, including progress on a recently announced ceasefire.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Secretary informed the diplomatic corps about the implementation of the ceasefire agreed on 10 May 2025.
She said as part of a goodwill gesture, both countries had exchanged personnel from the Pakistan Rangers and India's Border Security Force who were in each other’s custody.
Baloch expressed appreciation for the "constructive role" played by friendly nations in facilitating the ceasefire agreement.
Responding to what she described as India’s “baseless assertions” of establishing a so-called “new normal” in bilateral relations, the Foreign Secretary reiterated that the only acceptable framework should be grounded in mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
She emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful co-existence and reiterated the country's preference for dialogue and diplomacy over confrontation.
