GAIBANDHA: A Chhatra Shibir activist was killed in a clash the activists of Awami Leaue and Jamaat-Shibir in Khanabari area under Sundarganj upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sahabul Islam Tara, 28, activist of Shibir and son of Soleya Rahman, resident of the area.

Witnesses said the activists of Awami League and Jamaat-Shibir locked into a clash centering establishing supremacy at a polling center of the area at 1:30pm, leaving around 21 people injured including Tara.

The fatally injured were rushed to Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries at 3:45pm.

Shibir President of Palashbari upazila Shamim Hasan claimed that Tara was a Shibir activist.

Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Thana Kaysar Ali Khan confirmed the matter to banglanews.
