RANGPUR: National Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will be ruling Awami League candidate for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency by-poll.

Rangpur district Awami League senior vice-president has confirmed this matter.

Dr Shirin is expected to submit her nomination paper at office of Pirganj upazila assistant returning officer on Sunday.

Prior to that, she will meet AL leaders and activists and attend a rally at Fatehpur on Saturday as part of her campaigns for the polls.

Earlier on January 5 national polls Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina won Gopalganj and Pirganj constituencies. She, on January 8, left her Pirganj seat.

Election commission declared the seat vacant and date for by-poll for the constituency on February 20.
