6 Ijtema-bound pilgrims killed

MYMENSINGH: At least six people were killed and 10 more injured in a head-on collision between bus and Leguna in Amtali area under Bhaluka upazila of the district on Saturday midnight.

The deceased were identified as Abdus Salam, 50, Liton Mia, 32, Helal, 32, Akram, 32, Ashraf, 30 and Shahjahan, 50.

Local sources said that a human hauler locally known as Leguna carrying Ijtema-bound pilgrims collided head-on with a passenger bus in the area at around 11:30am, leaving three dead on the spot and injured others critically.

Later, two more died at Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex while undergoing treatment.

Another succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Bhaluka Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Motaleb Mia confirmed the matter to banglanews.
