Two people died after being struck by lightning while fishing in the Jamuna River in Sariakandi upazila of Bogura on Sunday (May 4).

The incident occurred at Debdanga Ghat around 3:30 PM, according to police.

The victims were identified as Manmath Halder, 45, and Sabuj Halder, 38, sons of Kartik Halder from Meghai area in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj district.

Sariakandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamirul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said that the brothers were fishing from their boat when sudden lightning struck, killing them instantly.

Their bodies were recovered and handed over to the family, he added.
