GAZIPUR: A father and his daughter were killed as a septic tank explosion in Markun area Tongi upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mostafa Kamal, 60 and his daughter Mukta Akhtar, 22.

Local sources said that the explosion occurred at around 6:00am while the victims were sleeping in a room of at their house built on the septic tank, leaving them critically injured.

Later, locals rushed them to Tongi Government Hospital where doctor declared them dead.

Tongi Thana Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
