Former Member of Parliament for Chattogram-15 constituency, Abu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi, has been shown arrested in five cases, as per a court order issued on Sunday morning.
The decision was made by the Chattogram Chief Judicial Magistrate Court following a request from the police.
Nadvi was presented before the court under tight security at 8:00 am, and after the hearing, the judge ordered him to be sent to jail.
On December 15, Nadvi was detained by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from the Uttara area of the capital in connection with a case filed in Dhaka. He was later transferred to Chattogram on Saturday evening and presented before the court the next morning regarding five cases filed with Satkania and Lohagara police stations.
Inspector of Chattogram District Court, Habibur Rahman, confirmed that Nadvi was brought from Dhaka Central Jail and produced before the court on Sunday morning.
After the hearing, the court issued an order showing him arrested in the five cases and directed his transfer to jail, he added.
