DHAKA: Some 17 air force personnel were given award for their bravery and distinguished role both during war time and peace time.

Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, ndu, psc, in a ceremony, handed over the medals to 15 BAF officers and two airmen in four different categories.

The auspicious occasion was held at Air Headquarters on Thursday.

According to press release of Inter Service Public Relations, amongst four categories under "Distinguished Service Medals" category five BAF officers were awarded medals for performing special role for BAF as well as the nation or outstanding contribution during any adverse situation of the country or taking any admirable step for the interest of BAF and the nation as well.

Under "Glorious Flying Medal" category three BAF pilots were awarded medals for showing bravery, efficiency, controlling capacity in any risky and adverse situation and remarkable contribution in flying within the country and in UN mission. Under "Air Excellence Medal" category three outstanding BAF officers and one airman were awarded medals for their well manners, professionalism and firmness which make them exceptional from their fellows and for their extraordinary contribution, struggling against adverse situation and playing special role in inventing new system of work in home and abroad, the release added.

Under "Air Efficiency Medal" category four outstanding BAF officers and one airman were awarded medals for playing an important role in developing BAF as well as the country by applying their merit, research works of development published in any national or international mass media or playing vital role in any training or exercise of BAF.  

To boost up the morale of Armed Forces personnel and inspire for the outstanding contribution, the government has taken the steps with an approval of Honorable President of the peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
