Three people were killed, and six others injured in a three-way collision involving a truck, microbus, and pickup van in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria, on Wednesday morning (December 11). 

The accident occurred at Barguria in the upazila.

The deceased have been identified as 11-moth-old Raisa, daughter of Manik Mia from Rampur village in Madhpur police station, Habiganj district; Fazilatunnesa, 75, wife of the late Lut Mia from Dantmandal village, Nasirnagar upazila, Brahmanbaria; and Pavel Mia, 30, the microbus driver and son of Lokman Mia from Haripur village in the same upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sarail Khatihata Highway Police Station Md. Margub Touhid confirmed the matter.

According to him, a truck heading towards Comilla collided with the Sylhet-bound microbus and pickup van, which were traveling in the opposite direction, leaving two dead on the spot. 

Pavel Mia succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital, he added.

The injured were initially taken to Madhabpur Health Complex in Habiganj district before being transferred to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

The OC confirmed that legal action is being taken regarding the incident.
