Four people were killed in a collision involving three vehicles near the Chandana intersection in Gazipur on Wednesday night.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 9 pm.

The deceased were identified as Saleha Akhter Tuktuki, 26, Imran Hasan Rajan, 38, Md Mamun, 23, and Md Dulal,42, said Kamrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Bason Police Station.

Quoting locals, the OC said, a Mymensingh-bound truck hit a stationary covered van at high speed, crushing a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in between, leaving one dead on the spot.

The other three succumbed to their injuries on the way to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital in Gazipur, he said.

Police seized the truck and covered van, but the truck's driver and helper remain at large.
