Two lynched over alleged buffalo theft in Kishoreganj

Two people were killed in a mob attack over an alleged buffalo theft in the Ashtagram upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday (Dec 14) morning.

The deceased were identified as Shajahan Mia, 35, from Kachua village in Brahmanbaria district, and Nasir Mia, 30, from Kagji village in Deoghar union, Kishoreganj.

According to locals, the two men were caught red-handed by villagers while attempting to steal a buffalo from the Bangalpara area. In a violent act of vengeance, the mob dragged them to the nearby Deoghar Government Primary School, where they were severely beaten.

They took them Deoghar Government Primary School where an agitated mob beat them up, leaving both dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashtagram Police Station Md Ruhul Amin said on information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.

The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy, OC added.
