The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted a mild cold wave affecting the northern and western regions of the country.
According to the BMD latest bulletin, the cold wave is affecting Panchagarh and Chuadanga and is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, starting at 9:00 AM today.
Besides, the weather is expected to remain dry with temporary partly cloudy skies across the country. A ridge of sub-continental high pressure extends up to West Bengal and surrounding areas, while the seasonal low lies over the South Bay. The associated trough extends to the North Bay.
The BMD also warned of a potential low-pressure system forming over the southeast Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours, which could influence the weather patterns further.
The night temperature is expected to drop slightly, while the day temperature may rise slightly across the country. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded was 30.1°C at Teknaf, while the minimum temperature today was 09.3°C, jointly recorded in Chuadanga and Tetulia.
The sun is expected to set at 5:14 PM today, with the sunrise occurring at 6:34 AM tomorrow in the capital.
As the cold wave persists, authorities have advised residents, particularly in the affected areas, to take necessary precautions to avoid health issues related to the cold weather.
