Bangladeshi expatriates in the first two weeks of December have sent $1.381 billion (Tk 16,576 crore) in remittance, according to data released by Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.
Bangladesh bank report said on average, daily remittance inflows during this period stood at $98.67 million, which is higher compared to both the previous month and the same period last year.
In November, daily inflows averaged $73.37 million, while in December of the previous year, the figure was $66.38 million per day.
State-owned banks handled $447.56 million of the remittance during this period, with Agrani Bank receiving $69.37 million. Meanwhile, private commercial banks accounted for $860.54 million, and foreign banks facilitated $38.80 million.
The rise in remittance inflows highlights the resilience of expatriate earnings, contributing significantly to the country’s foreign currency reserves.
