16 AL ex-ministers, advisers, judges to be produced before ICT today 

The Awami League (AL) government's 10 former ministers, two advisers, a retired Appellate Division Justice, and a former home secretary, among 16,  will be produced before the International Crimes Tribunal today (December 17) in a case of genocide and crimes against humanity during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Those who will be produced in the court are Anisul Haque, Faruk Khan, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haq Inu, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Dipu Moni, Salman F Rahman, Dr Abdur Razzaq, Shajahan Khan, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, ex-home secretary Jahangir Alam, and Awami League leaders Amir Hossain Amu and Kamrul Islam.

This marks their second appearance before the tribunal as part of an ongoing investigation. The tribunal had previously directed the investigators to submit a progress report on the case within one month.

International Crimes Tribunal Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman confirmed the development during a media briefing on Monday night (December 16). 

He said that the accused, who are currently in custody, include several high-profile figures such as former ministers, senior bureaucrats, judges, and politicians. 

They are being presented to report on the progress of the investigation as per the court’s orders, he added.

Of the accused, 13 were produced before the tribunal for the first time on November 17.
