Bangladesh has successfully brought home 94 more of its citizens stranded in war-torn Lebanon, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry issued a press release on Wednesday (December 18) in this regard. 

This latest effort brings the total number of repatriated Bangladeshis to 1,142, conducted over 17 flights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has ensured these flights were arranged entirely at government expense. 

The repatriation program is aimed at assisting those who volunteered to return amid the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.

Upon arrival at the airport in Bangladesh, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and the IOM received the returning citizens. 

Each repatriated individual was provided with Tk 5,000 as pocket money, along with food supplies and basic medical treatment courtesy of the IOM. 

The press release further revealed that one Bangladeshi has tragically lost their life in a bomb attack during the conflict. 

The government has reiterated its commitment to bringing back all expatriates who wish to return home safely, with the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut playing a crucial role in facilitating these efforts and ensuring the safety of those who choose to remain in Lebanon.
