Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam today (Dec 21) called for a collective effort from all stakeholders in the transport sector to ensure road safety and establish discipline. 

He underscored the need for structural reforms and an end to political corruption within the sector.

The adviser was speaking as the chief guest at a National Dialogue on Institutional Management and Structural Reforms organized by the Road Safety Foundation. 

He said that infrastructure development is meaningless unless it guarantees the safety of people's lives. Nahid noted the role of school and college students in raising awareness through the road safety movement, which challenged the previous government's development approach.

The event, held at the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), also featured presentations from key figures, including Abdullah M Ferdous Khan of the Road Safety Foundation, and was chaired by Dr. AI Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, the foundation's chairman.
