The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) started an inquiry into allegations of abuse of power, irregularities, and corruption involving the allocation of six plots, each measuring 10 kathas, in the Purbachal New Town project against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and four other family members.
ACC sources disclosed the information on Thursday (Dec 26).
According to the allegation, under Section 13/A of government rules, Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana, nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and niece Azmina Siddiq allegedly received six plots totaling 60 kathas in the diplomatic zone of Sector 27 in Purbachal.
Earlier, on December 17, the ACC decided to probe allegations of corruption involving Tk 59,000 crore in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project and Tk 21,000 crore in eight other projects, totaling Tk 80,000 crore.
These cases reportedly include accusations against Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and niece Tulip Siddiq, among other family members.
