Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12), has arrested a fugitive in Mizanur Rahman murder case in Bogura.
The arrestee was identified as Abdus Samad, 55. He is the son of the late Altab Ali Mondol from Dhepuya in Sherpur.
Acting Company Commander of RAB-12 Bogura, Shamsul Islam, confirmed matter on Sunday (Dec 29).
He said Samad was apprehended from his relative's house in Tetulia village, Sherpur upazila, around 1:15 AM on Saturday (Dec 28).
On August 17, Mizanur was first beaten and later hacked to death over a dispute regarding fishing in a leased government pond and previous enmity. Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a case with Sherpur Police Station, naming 17 individuals and 10-12 unidentified suspects.
Acting on intelligence report, RAB conducted a raid and arrested Samad, who had been on the run for an extended period.
Later, Samad was handed over to Sherpur Police Station for legal proceedings.
