A Dhaka court today set January 27 for a hearing on a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to place former National Board of Revenue (NBR) member, Matiur Rahman, on a seven-day remand in a graft case.
The request was made by the Investigation Officer (IO), and Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib scheduled the hearing while directing police to present Matiur in court on the set date.
Matiur Rahman, arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police on January 15, has been under scrutiny for several allegations, including his involvement in two graft cases.
His arrest, along with that of his wife Laila Kaniz, followed a controversial incident regarding a sacrificial goat linked to his son.
The ACC filed a case on January 6 accusing Rahman of concealing assets worth Tk 1.27 crore and amassing illegal wealth of Taka 5.28 crore.
