DHAKA: A journalist was killed as a train knocked him down near Joarsahara rail crossing area on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Jahirul Islam Firoz, 30, reporter of Palli Bangla, a regional newspaper is published from Barisal.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Railway Thana Sirajul Islam told banglanews that a Mymensingh-bound train knocked Firoz while crossing the rail-line and talking over the mobile phone, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police handed over the body to the victim’s family without any autopsy, he added.
