Dhaka: Reined in from a costal district, Danny Babu along with his friends admitted reasonability for a horrendous double-murder of his stepmother and sister at Kadamtali in the capital.
The boys gave a macabre picture of their misdeed in confessional statements at a press briefing arranged by the Metropolitan Detective Police at its office in the city on Friday morning.
The plainclothes police arrested the three fugitive suspects--Nurul Alam alias Danny Babu, 18, Al Amin, 28, and Miraj Mollah, 20,--in Potuakhali on Thursday night. Later, they were produced before a court with a prayer for 10 days remand.
According to the detectives, Babu said that his father, AKM Shah-e-Alam, Deputy Chief Engineer of a cement factory of Chhatak, Fenchugani in Sylhet, married thrice. Most of the time his father stayed there and his mother is the most senior of this family. On the other hand, the junior-most is her stepmother, Yasmin, 26. She lived with her only child Tanha at Polashpur in the capital city.
Babu sat for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination this year. He came to his stepmother’s house in Dhaka following his father’s advice to train in computer.
Few days ago, his elder sister got married. But on the occasion of the marriage ceremony, his mother was fiercely barred and he got the deepest shock for this reason. And his stepmother was responsible for that, DB quoted Danny as telling them.
“Apart from this, she misbehaved several times when I was in my stepmother’s house,” he said.
As such, he planned with his friends, Al Amin and Miraj, to give her “a good lesson forever”.
DB informed in the briefing that Al Amin said he and Miraj entered Babu’s room according to a preplan. They smoked sitting there and then Babu opened the door of his stepmother’s room. Al Amin first entered the room and then Babu and Miraj.
“As Jasmine cried ‘who, who’, Miraj strangled her. At one stage of scuffling, she fell down on the bed. First Miraj and then I raped her, but this time she was completely silent. It seemed that she died before the raping,” the detective police further quoted Al Amin as saying in a harrowing tale.
He also informed the DB police that he took the goods from the Almirah. At one stage, Babu’s younger sister, Erana, 4, woke from the sleep and cried. Then she was also killed. Later, they fled to their village home in Potuakhali.
Kadamtali thana police recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter--Yasmin Akthar Sathi and Erana Alam Tanha--on May 8. Sathi’s brother Monir as plaintiff filed a case against Dany Babu, his mother and his two maternal uncles with the police station that day.
