BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has returned to his Gulshan residence following treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Savar, party sources confirmed.
Fakhrul fell ill suddenly after paying tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar.
According to party standing committee member and physician Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Fakhrul returned home around 2 pm and is now safe and resting.
"Alhamdulillah, his medical reports are good ... CMH doctors discharged him after reviewing the test results," Dr. Zahid said.
The incident occurred due to the pressure of a large crowd as Fakhrul was preparing to address journalists after laying a wreath, the doctor said, adding Mirza Fakhrul collapsed and was immediately taken to CMH, where doctors conducted medical checks and kept him under observation.
