BNP joins dialogue with National Consensus Commission

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) joined the ongoing dialogue with the National Consensus Commission this morning (April 17) as part of efforts to build a national consensus on state reform.

The session began at 10:35 am in the LD Hall of parliament, chaired by Commission Vice Chairman Prof Ali Riaz.

BNP Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed and Nazrul Islam Khan were among the party's representatives.

This follows a meeting on Wednesday between a BNP delegation, led by Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, and Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Earlier, Fakhrul expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of a clear election timeline, warning of worsening political instability if polls are not held by December.

The commission, formed on February 15, has so far engaged with 11 political parties.

It seeks to finalize a national consensus on reform proposals by mid-July, following a second round of talks in May.
