DHAKA: At least 194 people, including seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested in Satkhira, Jhenaidah, Narail and Jessore districts.
Police arrested 61 people, including six activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in overnight drives in Satkhira.
The drives were conducted from Wednesday midnight to Thursday 9:30am in different parts of the district.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Satkhira district police special branch (SB) inspector Emdad Hossain said that the arrestees are accused in different cases including of vandalism.
The arrestees include six Jamaat activists, he added.
Moreover, police in special drives arrested 29 people in Jhenaidah.
Jhenaidah police super office control room in-charge constable Shafiqul Islam told banglanews that the arrestees are accused in different cases including of murder, robbery, mugging and torture.
In Narail, at least 56 people, accused in different cases, were arrested in overnight drives in the district.
Police super Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Meanwhile, 48 people, including a Jamaat activist, were arrested in Jessore in the day.
Jessore district police control room sources said that the arrestees are accused in vandalism and other cases.
