GAZIPUR: Police submitted a charge sheet against 42 including Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) mayor Professor MA Mannan on Thursday in a case filed with Joydebpur Thana.

Gazipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Farzana Haque accepted the charge sheet and fixed May 12 as the hearing date.

Court sources said district BNP president Fazlul Haque Milon was also included in the charge sheet.

District BNP called daylong hartal for December 27 of 2014 seeking permission for Khaleda Zia’s rally in the district on December 29.

Local journalist M A Farid filed the lawsuit as on the hartal day, a Dhaka-bound vehicle that was carrying journalists came under attack at Borobari area.

Manna was arrested from his residence in Dhaka on February 11 of 2015 in that case.

Currently, he is imprisoned. There are four cases against him.
