DHAKA: BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday commented that the attack on party’s leaders and activists in front of its Nayapaltan central office was a blueprint of government’s conspiracy.
The senior BNP leader made the comment while addressing a press conference at Nayapaltan office in city around 5:00pm.
Witnesses said a clash erupted out between the BNP activists and leaders and activists of ‘Asal (Original) BNP’ centering the occupation of BNP headquarters in city’s Nayapaltan area around 4:00pm on Saturday, leaving 16 injured.
Rizvi also said the attack was a part of a plan to foil the rally that BNP has set to organize on January 5.
The witnesses also said that a group of over one hundred men, under the leadership of BNP reformist Qamrul Hasan Nasim gathered at Nayapaltan to occupy the BNP central office.
However, around three hundred BNP men were staying in front of the office, they added.
Additional police forces have been deployed in front of the office to avert any untoward situation.
BNP organizing secretary Fazlul Haque Milon, assistant organizing secretary Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, religion affairs secretary Masud Ahmed Talukder, and assistant office secretaries Abdul Latif Jony and Asadul Karim Jony were, among others, present in the press meet.
