Police have arrested Riajul Islam Masum, the general secretary of the Natore district unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a banned student organization, from the Ruppur area in Pabna district. 

The arrest was made on Thursday night following a tip-off, according to Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, Natore.

Riajul, who has been wanted in connection with seven criminal cases, including murder, went into hiding after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 last year. 

Authorities are now questioning him in relation to the charges.
