DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday (December 22) has fixed January 5 as the next date of hearing the statement of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage graft cases.
Earlier Khaleda appeared before the court of third special Judge Abu Ahmed Jomader in Bakshi Bazar area around 11:00pm to place her statement.
Earlier on December 15, Khaleda failed to appear before the court due to physical illness. In response, the court said Khaleda must appear Thursday (December 22) to keep her bail in this case.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On the other hand, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
BNP senior Leaders and lawyers are also present at the court.
