DHAKA: Awami League sponsored candidate Selina Hayat Ivy secured 105,461 votes while archrival BNP-backed candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan got 58,131 votes in 105 centers out of 174 on Thursday.
The unofficial results from 105 centers came to Banglanews24.com’s newsroom by 8:30 pm.
Meanwhile, the returning officer of NCC Election Nuruzzaman declared results of 47 centers till 7:00 pm where Ivy was leading.
As per election commission (EC) sources, 65 percent voters cast their votes in the NCC polls.
The total number of voters in NCC area is 474,931. Of them, 239,662 are male and 235,269 are female voters.
Earlier, voters continued exercising their rights of franchise in 174 voting centers from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm to elect their mayor and councilors.
A total of seven candidates are vying for the mayoral post.
Around 9,500 personnel from different security forces have been deployed for security in the NCC polls.
