DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) General Secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has warned party men to not violate the code of conduct in the December 28 District Council Election.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists at secretariat on Tuesday (December 27).
Quader reminded the instruction of the Prime Minister and AL chairperson Sheikh Hasina about the party’s firm position against the violation of election code of conduct.
“As the general secretary of the party, I have already warned some of party men who attempted to breach the election rules.”
“I want to reiterate that none can participate in any electoral activities violating rules. I also asked MPs and ministers to leave their own constituencies for the sake of fair elections.”
In a query about the use of black money in elections, Quader said that there is no way to deny the role of the money in election. The code of conduct to some extent is violated in this regard.
However, it would be better to have a free and fair election without violations of EC rules, he added.
“We can take the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) mayoral election as a role model as there was no allegation of black money.”
