RANGPUR: A probe committee was formed on Sunday (January 01) over the autopsy of the slain Gaibandha MP Manjurul Islam Liton.

Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Professor Animesh Roy confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Headed by the RMC Forensic Department professor Narayan Chandra Saha, two other members of the committee are assistant professors Khairul Islam and Rezaul Islam.

While visiting the RMC forensic section, Awami League joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak blamed Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Shibir activists for this incident.

However, Liton’s namaz-e-janaza will be held at South Plaza of city’s parliament building and he will be buried at the family graveyard after next namaz-e-janaza.

However, 19 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were arrested in this connection.

Earlier on Saturday evening, some miscreants shot the ruling Awami League lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton to death.
