DHAKA: The election Commission (EC) to will start dialogue with political parties and representatives of other non-political bodies from Monday (July 30) ahead of the 11th parliamentary election.
EC acting secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said the commission will start the dialogue with civil society representatives.
The first dialogue chaired by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda will be held at EC conference room from 11:00am-1:00pm Monday. A total of 60 civil society people will take part in it.
Mass Representation order, amendments to the electoral laws for delimitation of the electoral constituencies, voter list, voting centers and electric voting machine will the main topics to be discussed in the dialogue.
After the dialogue with civil society representatives, EC will also hold dialogue with NGOs, women representatives, media and political parties.
As per the constitution, the 11th parliamentary election must be held between October 18 in 2018 and January 28 in 2019. The EC has also organized dialogue in the previous parliamentary elections of 2008 and 2014.
