ACC files cases against former MP Fahmi Gulandaz, wife

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against lawmaker Fahmi Gulandaz Babel and his wife Sharmeen Gulandaz for allegedly amassing illegal wealth and engaging in suspicious financial transactions.

According to ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain, the cases have been filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012, and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

Fahmi, a former Member of Parliament from Mymensingh-10, is accused of conducting financial transactions worth Tk 60.98 crore across 16 bank accounts and USD 1.71 lakh. He is also alleged to have accumulated assets worth Tk 20.11 crore beyond his declared sources of income.

Meanwhile, Sharmeen is accused of accumulating Tk 1.02 crore in unexplained wealth and handling transactions amounting to Tk 3.17 crore through three bank accounts.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to address these serious allegations.
