BNP leader found dead in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR: Police recovered the body of a local BNP leader from the backyard of Tushkhali High School in Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur early Tuesday (Sep 5).

The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman Talukder, 58, a resident of Burirchar village and general secretary of ward no-4 of Dhanisafa union unit BNP.

Victim’s son Rakib Talukdar said around 40-50 people led by ward no-4 member Idris Talukdar forcibly picked Habibur up from Tushkhali market and he has been missing since. Following long search, relatives spotted his body at the back side of Tushkhali High School around 12:00am and informed police.

KM Tariqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mathbaria police station, said police recovered the body at night and sent it to hospital for autopsy in the morning. Initially, it seems that he was strangled to death.
