DHAKA: The BNP has expressed its satisfaction as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina finally visited the Rohingya refugee camp at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday (September 12) said that at last the PM became conscious and visited the Rohingya camp.
Speaking at a discussion meeting at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the BNP’s spokesperson expressed happiness over the Prime Minister's belated visit to Rohingya camp and distribution of relief.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “Following Indonesian Foreign Minister, Turkish Foreign Minister and First Lady, our Prime Minister has visited Rohingya refugee camps today (Tuesday), even though it is late, even though the entire world is furious about this issue.”
An UN delegation is going to Cox's Bazar for the first time.
The discussion was organized by Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal, the youth body of the BNP.
Sheikh Hasina along with several ministers of her government, MPs, Army chief and chiefs of different other forces visited the Rohingya refugee camp at Kutupalong at Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday (September 12).
She also distributed relief among the Rohingyas who fled violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State and entered Bangladesh to avoid genocide by the Myanmar army.
