DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the influential local leaders of the ruling party are exploiting and taking away the limited belongings of Rohingya refugees who fled into Bangladesh escaping persecution in Myanmar.
He made the comment in a meeting organized by Jatiya Nagarik Sangsad at the VIP lounge of National Press Club on Friday (Sep 15).
Rizvi said the refugees have fled into our country with very little possessions and the local Awami League leaders are looting that from them.
Alleging that some 10-12 Rohingyas are dying everyday due to the ‘wrong policy’ of the government, he said the government has failed to play any fruitful role to resolve the crisis.
Earlier on Sep 13, a central delegation team of BNP faced obstruction on way to Ukhia upazila to distribute relief materials among refugees. Rizvi said the government blocked the road to refrain us from distributing relief. They are also looting the relief goods that are coming from foreign aids.
