DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday (September 20) issued arrest warrant for Gonojagoron Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker, in a case filed over commenting offensive on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Samidul Islam issued the warrant against Imran, in the morning.

Sonaton Ullahsh, another Gonojagoron Mancha activist, and another accused in the same case filed over commenting derogatory while staging a rally protesting the controversial idol of Lady Justice from the Supreme Court premise earlier this year, also have to face the same warrant. 

October 26, however, was fixed for hearing upon charge-framing in the case.

Ealier, the case was shifted to the judge court and Wednesday was set for Imran’s appearance at the court.

However, the court issued the warrant against Imran as he didn’t appear before it Wednesday and moreover, avoided legal process. 

Earlier, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Central Learning and Reading Circle Affairs Secretary Golam Rabbani filed the case with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court-Dhaka.
