DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday (September 28) acquitted Awami League Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim in a case filed over hiding the wealth information and possessing properties beyond known income.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 announced the verdict.
Earlier, the court took deposition from 11 witnesses among the 24.
The Awami League leader was also present at the court.
On July 9, 2007, Bahauddinn Nasim was served a notice by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), asking to submit the wealth statement.
On July 17, his mother Nurjahan Begum submitted the document to ACC.
Afterwards, ACC accused Nasim and his wife for concealing property information of Tk17,59,078 and possessing wealth of Tk1,083,1646 beyond known income.
ACC Deputy Director Benazir Ahammad filed a case against the couple on November 21, 2007.
Later, Nasim’s wife Shamima Chowdhury was discharged from the accusations and charge was formed against Nasim only on October 8, 2008.
