DHAKA: Supreme Court senior lawyer TM Akbar died at a city hospital on Thursday noon (October 05) after he suddenly got sick at the courtroom during argument on BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s case. He was 86.

He was rushed to the Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital at Shahbagh immediately where the on duty doctors declared him dead around 12:40 pm

TM Akbar suddenly suffered cardiac arrest while an argument was going on between the prosecution and the Dhaka district’s Special Judges Court-3 on the Zia Charitable Trust fund embezzlement case at the makeshift court at Bakshibazar.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed deep shock at the death of her counsel. She prayed salvation of the departed soul of TM Akbar.

The BNP chief also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also expressed deep shock at the death of the lawyer.
