Bikalpadhara proposes interim govt with 9th JS parties

DHAKA: Bikalpadhara Bangladesh has proposed formation of election-time interim government with representative of the parties who were in the 9th Parliament to oversee the 11th Parliamentary elections.

The party during dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday (October 10) also proposed deployment of the Army ahead of the next elections.

A 14-member delegation of the party led by its chief and former President of the country Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury took part in the dialogue held at the EC Secretariat building in the city.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda chaired the talks, while other elections commissioners were also present. Bikalpadhara Secretary General Maj (Retd) Abdul Mannan was also among the delegation members.

Bikalpadhara placed a 13-point proposal to the EC. The party urged the commission not to re-demarcate the Parliamentary constituencies ahead of the next general election saying that it will create controversy.

The party proposed deployment of army for 45 days from 30 days before the election and restoration ‘No Vote’ provision.
