DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday (Oct 10) placed eight top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islam including its ameer Maqbul Ahmed on 10-day remand each in two cases.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Golam Nabi granted the remand after the accused were produced before it shown arrest in two cases filed under Explosives and Special Powers Act.
The other leaders are-- Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Golam Parwar, Secretary General Dr Shafikur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam, Shafikur Rahman’s personal assistant Nazrul Islam, Chittagong district (South) Ameer Jafor Sadiq, Metropolitan Amir M Shahjahan and Secretary Nazrul Islam.
Earlier on Monday night (October 10), Detective Branch (DB) of police detained eight top leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami including its ameer and secretary general from a house in Dhaka’s Uttara.
The detainees were holding a secret meeting to plan sabotage activities.
