CJ Sinha was forced to take leave: Rizvi BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi speaking at the human chain

DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was forced to take leave at gunpoint.

He made the remark while addressing as chief guest at a human chain held in front of National Press Club on Friday noon (Oct 13).

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal organized the human chain protesting the arrest warrants against BNP chief Khaleda Zia in separate cases.

Alleging that the ruling party Awami League is destroying country’s top court, Rizvi said mentioning the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, “To establish her authority, she considered a court like the Supreme Court as opponent. She along with all the AL leaders got afraid and angry to the Supreme Court verdict that scrapped the 16th amendment to the constitution.”

“Al lawmakers have used abusive languages towards the Chief Justice inside the parliament which is unprecedented anywhere in the world. However, Awami League has set an example where the CJ can be targeted of such ugly attacks.”

Rizvi further said the CJ just got back to work from leave. How come all of a sudden he takes leave again? People are smart enough to know that he did not apply for leave rather forced to take leave with threats.

“The law minister and attorney general eagerly told that CJ is suffering from cancer and went on leave to rest but CJ Sinha did not say a word on this matter. Why is that? Why is it that no doctors in Bangladesh came forward with such statement?”
