DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has claimed that only the ruling Awami League and their people are enjoying the outcomes of the country’s independence.

“Other people are hardly allowed to talk,” she added. 

The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a rally organized by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal at Mahanagar Natya Mancha in city’s Gulistan area on Sunday (Dec 24).

Khaleda elaborated, “Nobody is being allowed to hold rally. Is this democracy? Is it the fruits of Independence? Only they are enjoying the fruits by looting the country.”

“Not a single organization in the country is running properly. We have all witnessed how the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was removed for questioning the independence of the judiciary.”

Claiming that AL fears freedom fighters, the BNP chief said, “AL men fear the freedom fighters and get angry because they fought for the country and snatched victory.”
