DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has commented that the government is backpedaling the country. She once again said that the government is illegal and the country is run by the wishes of one person.   

Khaleda Zia was speaking at a rally at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in the city on Tuesday (January 02).

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, arranged the rally to mark its founding anniversary.

Khaleda Zia came down heavily on the government for the high price of rice and other commodities. The Awami League had promised for feeding rice at Tk. 10, but the price of rice is now Tk. 70, she said.

She also criticized the government for looting banks and share market.
