DHAKA: Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, a special aide to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, was detained in the afternoon on Thursday (February 08).
Detective branch (DB) of police detained him from city’s Bakshibazar area just after pronouncement of verdict against Khaleda Zia.
Shimul Biswas was accompanied the BNP chief to the special court, the makeshift court set up on premises of Madrasa-e-Alia Dhaka in the city.
The special court awarded five years imprisonment to the BNP chief in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. Her elder son and BNP vice chairman Tarique Rahman and four others were given 10 years imprisonment in the case. The court, however, fined Tk. 2.10 crore each.
