Khasru, 4 others exempted from Special Powers Act case

A Dhaka court today exempted BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and four others from charges in a case filed under the Special Powers Act over a leaked audio clip during the 2018 student movement for safe roads.

The other accused cleared are Barrister Minhanur Rahman Naomi, Rafikul Islam Nayan, Habibur Rahman Habib, and Robiul Islam Robi.

Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibn Haque passed the order.

The case was filed on August 5, 2018, following a leaked phone conversation between Khasru and Naomi, which was later reported by the media.

Police filed the charge sheet on January 25, 2020, and the court framed charges against the accused on January 19, 2022.
