DHAKA: A total of five cases were filed against the leaders and activists of BNP on charge of mayhem against the verdict of their party chief Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case Thursday (February 8). 

The charges include obstructing government action, brawling and arson attack.

As many as 368 BNP men including some central leaders of the party sued in the cases filed three with Shahbagh Police Station and the rest two with Ramna Police Station.

Ramna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam told Banglanews on Saturday (February 10) that a total of 160 persons were accused in the three cases filed with his station and Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Hasan said that 208 persons were accused in the cases filed with his station.

However, of the accused, many are unnamed.

The BNP protesters carry out clashes in several phases while the motorcade of Khaleda Zia was heading towards the special court in Bakshibazar of Dhaka, from her Gulshan residence on Thursday.
